I had the good fortune to attend the Library Staff Presentation by Jane Miller demonstrating Skype and if I had broadband at home I would use it myself, however with dial-in I dont think its worth even trying.
I have used chat on gmail. I find that chat is really useful with overseas contacts, very cheap and useful for quick gathering of information when you can fire off questions and answers. I would have used google talk but after several attempts at finding a username gave up - sorry.
I would think that library users would think this a great tool to get questions answered quickly.
